Microglial NOS2 activity is reduced by NE. Microglia were incubated with LPS and indicated concentrations of norepinephrine (NE). NO production was measured as in figure 1, (A) indirectly by nitrite levels measured after 24 hr; or directly by DCF fluorescence after 4 hr. In B, data are expressed as net relative fluorescence units (RFU) which is calculated as the difference between total RFU and the RFU values obtained by pre-blocking NOS2 activity in parallel samples with AMT (100 μM).
