  1. Determination of endotoxin levels in the Hb- and hemin preparations using an Endpoint Chromogenic LAL assay and a LPS ELISA assay as described in the Methods section. The endotoxin levels were determined both before and after purification of endotoxins using EndoTrap, as described in the Methods section. The endotoxin levels are determined as EU endotoxin per mg of Hb/hemin. LPS, lipopolysaccharide; MetHb, methemoglobin; OxyHb, oxyhemoglobin.
