  1. Adult 8-week-old C57BL/6 J female mice were injected intraperitoneally with saline (0.9% NaCl) or 2 mg/kg lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Brains were dissected 24 hours later and pro-inflammatory genes for IL-1β, IL-6, TNFα and CCL2 were determined by quantitative PCR from the hypothalamus, hippocampus and choroid plexus. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.005 versus saline controls; ns, not significant, n = 4.
