The early release of TNF-α by fibrillar Aβ1–40. Microglial cultures were incubated with 1 μM fibrillar (f) or soluble (s) Aβ1–40, alone of together with 10 μM apocynin or 60 IU/ml catalase for 1 hour. TNF-α levels were assessed in the media collected from the cultures. Data are expressed as mean of 4 experiments ± standard error; statistical analysis used: Student's t-test, p < 0.05; * – significant difference compared to the control.
