From: Estrogen treatment following severe burn injury reduces brain inflammation and apoptotic signaling
After severe burn injury, estrogen significantly decreases the local levels of IL-1β in the brain. At the 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 18, and 24 hour time-points, there was a substantial decrease in the levels of IL-1β in the 17 β-estradiol treated group compared to placebo.
