  1. RNA extracts from 2 experiments for iNOS and 3 experiments for arginase and P glycoprotein were analyzed by QRT-PCR, as described in Methods. Values are averages +/- range. In agreement with the gene array results, Th1 and M/M cytokines markedly upregulated expression of iNOS in the mixed glial cultures; Th2 cytokines upregulated arginase; and Th1 and M/M cytokines upregulated P glycoprotein. Differences from the gene array were a decrease in iNOS by Th2, an increase in arginase by M/M and an increase in P glycoprotein by Th2 cytokines.
