IL-1α is expressed in activated microglia following GD-induced SE. IL-1α (green) is present in the piriform cortex, hippocampus and thalamus 12 hours after GD-induced SE (A, B & C left), though absent in vehicle controls (A, B & C right). Neurons (D, red) and astrocytes (E, red) do not express IL-1α. Co-localization was observed in activated microglia (F, red). DAPI (A-F, blue) labels nuclei.
