In saline-infused animals, no apparent neuronal loss is observed in the FPC at 1 day after SE (A1). Two days after SE, neuronal loss is detected in layers IV-V (A2). Three-to-four days after SE, widespread neuronal damage is detected in the layers II-V of the FPC (A3-4). In BzATP-treated animals, neuronal loss is detected at 1 day after SE (B1-4). In OxATP-treated animals, neuronal loss is detected at 4 days after SE (C1-4).
