Metabolic parameters of OF pups and long-term outcomes after HI. Compared with the control (NF) pups, the overweight (OF) pups had significantly more body-weight from P3 to P7 (A), and greater increases of body fat deposit ratios in the interscapular and perirenal areas on P7 (B). The OF pups had significantly higher plasma glucose levels than the NF pups before and immediately following HI (C). (D) Plasma insulin levels showed no difference between the two groups before and after HI. n = 5-8 in each group at each time point. (E) Morris water maze test performed on P44-P45 showed that the NF-HI rats made progress with significantly less escape latency finding the submerged platform during learning than the OF-HI rats.
