Neutrophil infiltration occurs following significant CXCL1 expression in injured brain regions. Significant increases in neutrophils were observed in the hippocampus (solid black line) and piriform cortex (solid gray line) at 12 and 24 hours following SE onset. Significant increases were observed in the thalamus (open gray line) at 24 hours only. Data are given as cells/mm3 of tissue reported as mean ± SEM.
