From: (−)-Epigallocatechin gallate inhibits endotoxin-induced expression of inflammatory cytokines in human cerebral microvascular endothelial cells

Figure 7

Effect of (−)-epigallocatechin gallate on lipopolysaccharide-induced NF-κB activation. Human cerebral microvascular endothelial cells/D3 (hCMEC/D3) were transfected with pNF-κB-Luc plasmid and then treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (1, 10, 100, or 1000 ng/mL) or (−)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) (1, 5, or 25 μM) for 7 h. For pretreatment, cells were treated with EGCG (1, 5 or 25 μM) for 1 h prior to LPS treatment. Cells were lysed and the lysate was analyzed using a luciferase assay system. NF-κB promoter-driven luciferase activity was expressed as -fold of untreated cells (designated as 1). Data are expressed as mean ± SD of triplicates of two independent experiments. (*P < 0.05, **P < 0.01).
