Delayed treatment with minocycline has long-term protective effects after hypoglycemia. Note that hypoglycemia-induced hippocampal CA1 neuronal death was protected by the delayed minocycline treatment 8 weeks after hypoglycemia. Scale bar = 80 μm. The number of neurons was counted using the stereology method as described in Methods and Materials.
