COAM reduces MOG peptide-induced EAE. IFN-γ KO BALB/c mice were immunized with MOG35-55 and the test group was given 2 mg COAM/mouse i.p. at days 0 and 7 after immunization, whereas the control group received excipiens. EAE clinical scores were recorded daily. Dead animals were scored 6 from the day of death until the end of the experiment. * P <0.05; ** P <0.01 for comparison with saline-treated group (Wilcoxon test, control n = 13, COAM n = 15). COAM, chlorite-oxidized oxyamylose; EAE, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis; MOG, myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein.
