Apoptosis detected by the in situ TUNEL assay (green) in MBP-stained differentiated MO3.13 cells (red), in medium control (A) and after incubation with live B. burgdorferi for 48 h at multiplicity of infection (MOI) of 10:1 (B), 100:1 (C), and 500:1 (D), as visualized by confocal microscopy.
