Early recruitment of T cells into Theiler’s murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV)-infected brain in the absence of Tregs. Following intraperitoneal administration of PBS or diphtheria toxin (DT), DEREG mice were intracerebrally infected with TMEV. (A) Immunohistochemistry of TMEV infected brains at 3 days post inoculation (dpi) (left panel) and 7 dpi (right panel) reveals higher numbers of CD3+ T cells only at 3 dpi in DT-treated mice (lower panel) compared to PBS-treated mice (upper panel). (B) Quantification of CD3+ T cells in the cerebral neuroparenchyma of 6 to 8 infected mice reveals a significantly increased number on T cells in DT-treated mice at 3 dpi.
