Role of microglial TLR2 receptor in mediating innate immune responses to B. burgdorferi. Primary microglia were incubated with 25 nM TLR2 or a non-specific control (CTL) siRNA (described in the ‘Methods’ section) followed by infection with B. burgdorferi for 24 h. Supernatants were collected at 24 h post addition of the spirochetes and assayed for cytokine and chemokine levels by a multiplex ELISA. Data are representative of three experiments using microglia from two animals. Pam3CSK4 was used as a positive control and cell culture medium as the negative control.
