Double immunostaining of the spinal cord from TNBS animals showed that p-NR1 (a, d, red cells) and p-Akt (b, e, green cells) had similar anatomic distribution which included the dorsal horn and deep laminae (a–c). ApoTome scan revealed that majority of p-NR1 (d, red cells) and p-Akt (e, green cells) were expressed in the same cells (f, cells indicated by white arrows). Some of the p-NR1 positive cells did not express p-Akt (d–f, yellow arrows). Also some of the p-Akt positive cells did not express p-NR1 (d–f, blue arrows).
