Effect of osthole on NSS and brain water content. a Neurological function was assigned an NSS at 12 h, 3, 7, 14, and 21 dpi. Treatment with osthole (20 or 30 mg/kg/day) lowered NSS from 3 to 21 dpi relative to untreated controls. There was no difference in the scores between the two groups at a concentration of 10 mg/kg/day. b Brain water content of injured hemispheres measured at 3 dpi. Water content was higher in the untreated SWI group than in naive controls. Osthole treatment reduced water content in a dose-dependent manner (n = 6 per group).
