TNFα induces PARP-1 activation in microglia and astrocytes. Immunostaining for poly(ADP-ribose) (labeled as PAR) shows accumulation in both astrocytes and microglia during incubation with TNFα (15 ng/ml). Phase contrast images shows simultaneous morphological transformation of microglia. Astrocytes do not exhibit morphological changes (not shown). Scale bar, 10 μm. Representative of n = 4
