DHA-induced changes in functional biomarkers in activated microglial cells. Mass spectrometric analyses of free fatty acids (FFA, a) and triglycerides (TG, b) did not reveal marked changes in the content of these lipids in N9 microglial cells treated with DHA. In contrast, phosphatidyl serine (PS) was significantly increased (c). The amount of released proinflmmatory cytokines (de) was moderately but significantly reduced with DHA supplemented in the medium. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, and ***p < 0.001. All measurements were performed in triplicate samples in at least two independent experiments
