Note that panel b shows maximum titers detected during acute attacks and minimum titers detected in follow-up sera. The difference was also significant if not the remission sample with the lowest titer but that with the longest time interval since attack onset was used (median 1:1280 vs. 1:320; p < 0.009; not shown)
