Decline in the number of B and T cells after A. cantonensis infection was not caused by cellular apoptosis. Splenic B (a) and T cells (b) were harvested from control and infected mice. Cellular apoptosis was examined by annexin-V/7-AAD staining. The expression of Caspase 3 from the purified B cells (c) and T cells (d) was detected by western blot. Each group contained five to nine mice. One of three independent experiments with similar results is shown. Values were shown as mean ± SEM. A one-way ANOVA is used for statistical analysis. *, results differed from the control group; *P < 0.05; **P < 0.01; ***P < 0.001
