CUS increases levels of cleaved caspase-1 in the hippocampus of rats. Rats were exposed to CUS for 1, 2, and 3 weeks, respectively, and hippocampi were collected and analyzed for levels of (a) IL-1β (n = 4 per group), (b) pro-IL-1β (n = 4 per group), (c) cleaved caspase-1 (n = 4 per group), and (d) caspase-1 (n = 4 per group) using western blotting. Results are expressed as the mean ± SEM. ### p < 0.001 compared to normal rats at the same time point
