Schematic indicating the suppression of JNK-MMP2/9 in astrocytes to alleviate neuropathic pain by TMP. After CCI surgery, several pathways including the release of IL-1β, and calcium influx have been identified to signal the activation of astrocytes and neurons, leading to the neuroinflammation and central sensitization. TMP inhibited the MMP-2/9 activation, the maturation of IL-1β, and the activation of PKC and NMDA. The inhibition of TAK1-JNK-MMP2/9 was a critical mechanism for analgesic effect of TMP in astrocytes
