Effect of Ang II and phenylephrine on hippocampal gliosis. Iba-1 (a) and GFAP (b) were examined by immunofluorescence in the hippocampus after 1 week systemic perfusion of Ang II 1900 ng/kg/min or phenylephrine (PHE) 19 μg/kg/min or 0.9% saline (CTL). In each experiment, a treated-to-control ratio was calculated (****p < 0.0001, Ang II 1900 or PHE versus control, by one-way ANOVA with Tukey post-test, n = 4–5).
