From: RNS60 exerts therapeutic effects in the SOD1 ALS mouse model through protective glia and peripheral nerve rescue

Fig. 5

RNS60 preserves myelin maintenance in sciatic nerves of C57BL/6-SOD1G93A mice. a–d Representative immunoblots of the typical myelin markers CNPase (a) and MBP (c) in sciatic nerve extracts from NTG and C57BL/6-SOD1G93A mice treated with NS or RNS60 at symptomatic stage of the disease (140 days). b–d Densitometric analysis revealed a marked reduction of both CNPase and MBP in transgenic mice with respect to NTG. The treatment with RNS60 completely prevented the reduction of CNPase and slightly, but non-significantly (p = 0.332), counteracted the decrease of MBP. Data are reported as mean ± SEM of percentage vs NTG (n = 5 animals per group). Statistical analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA followed by post hoc Fisher’s LSD. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001, n.s. = non significant
