Long-term reconstituting (LTR, lin−/Sca-1+/cKit+/CD34−) and short-term reconstituting (STR, lin−/Sca-1+/cKit+/CD34+) hematopoietic stem cells were quantified in bone marrow. The debris and dead cells were excluded before the selection of lineage negative cells. The Sca-1+/cKit+ double-positive cells were then gated.
