Illustration of the timeline experimental design. Wild mice (WT, without treatment and treated with interleukins 4 or 10) and NOX-2 KO were administered with monosodium glutamate (1 M). Subsequently, they were sacrificed at 24 h to obtain histological sections (n = 5). Some animals were sacrificed at 1, 6, 12, and 24 h to obtain striatum homogenate (n = 4). Motor behavior tests were performed at 1, 6, 12, and 24 h in animals of both groups (n = 8)
