Caspase-3 activity in wild-type mice and NOX-2 KO after administration of glutamate. Active caspase-3 was measured in striatum homogenates after 1, 3, 6, 12, and 24 h of glutamate (1 M) administration in WT and NOX-2 KO mice. Fluorescence produced by the cleavage of the specific substrate for caspase-3 was quantified in relative units of fluorescence (FRU) and the results are expressed as the fluorescence fold change relative to WT saline.
