Analysis of nerve conduction across the injury site via electrophysiology. A stimulating electrode was placed in the spinal cord rostral to the injury site and a recording hook electrode was placed on the dorsal side of the spinal cord caudal to the injury (a). The cord dorsum potential was measured and a representative result is displayed from all groups, with the signal completely removed after an injection of lidocaine (b). The conduction velocity was significantly better in the uninjured rats compared to Controls and Local IL-10 groups (c), and the amplitude was significantly larger in uninjured rats compared to all other groups (d). There was no significant difference between any of the groups that underwent a SCI in amplitude or conduction velocity.
