XIAP level increases in the eyes of Caspase-4 knockout mice that have impaired processing of Caspase-1 precursor protein. Deficiency in Caspase-1 cleavage leads to a significant increase (~ twofold) in the XIAP protein level in the whole eye protein lysates from the Caspase-4 knockout mice (Casp-4−/−) compared to the wildtype controls (WT) (Mann-Whitney, *p < 0.05)
