XIAP Overexpression Yields More Cleaved XIAP and Reduces IL-1β Secretion. a Transfection of the XIAP plasmid increased the full-length XIAP protein expression in primary RPE cells, which under Leu-Leu-OMe (LLOMe)-induced inflammasome activation, resulted in enhanced XIAP cleavage with lower molecular weight bands at ~ 34 kD. b When XIAP full-length protein was cleaved into small bands, significant IL-1β secretion was observed. Primary RPE cells overexpressing the XIAP full-length protein were found to have a significantly lower level of IL-1β secretion under inflammasome activation, compared to cells transfected with vector control (One-way ANOVA, *p < 0.05)
