Overview of animal care and stress challenges. Adult female breeders were placed on either CHD (control house-chow diet) or HFD (high-fat diet) 4 weeks prior to mating and continued through gestation and lactation. Offspring were weaned on to CHD at postnatal day (PND) 21. On PND90, offspring were injected with corticosterone (CORT), lipopolysaccharide (LPS), or CORT + LPS combination, and sacrificed 3 h later
