Stroke does not impair the ability to recognize the novel arm in 2-trial Y-maze. a There was no difference in percent time spent in the novel arm between groups. However, forced alternation (FA) ratio (b) appeared to improve only in the KD group. A successful alternation was defined as the animals going into different arms in three consecutive arm entries and FA ratio was expressed as the number alternations starting in the novel arm divided by total successful alternations (N = 5–7/group)
