Gene expression profile after capsaicin treatment. 24-h SC incubation with 10 μM capsaicin reduces significantly TLR4 (a, n = 9–10) and ICAM-1 (b, n = 10–12) expression and induces CGRP (c, n = 11–13) expression. TRPV1 (d) expression is not affected. The relative quantitation of each mRNA was performed using the comparative Ct method. A comparison of the mean Ct values can be found in Fig. 4e.
