MHCII+ macrophages (CD11c− [gray] and CD11c+[blue]) are partially self-sustaining and partially recycled from the peripheral blood monocyte pool (numbers indicate percentage replenished from blood monocytes). b After laser injury, MHCII− macrophages (green) are derived from classical monocytes (90%) and from expanded tissue resident macrophages (10%). MHCII+CD11c− macrophages (gray) are 100% derived from classical monocytes. MHCII+CD11c+ macrophages are derived from classical monocytes (70%), non-classical monocytes (20%), and expanded tissue resident macrophages (10%)
