Neural regulation of mast cells. Neurotransmitters such as Ach, NO, H2S, GABA, glutamate, and DA as well as neuropeptides, including SP, VIP, CRF, CGRP, NTs, NT, PACAP, ATP, opioid peptides, and other neuromodulators, modulate the function of mast cells in the meningeal membranes of the CNS, epithelial lining of the skin, airways of the lung, mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract, and so on, contributing to a diverse array of physiological and pathologic functions.
