Experimental timeline. At day 0, pediatric (p21) mice received either an experimental TBI or Sham surgery, followed by a single i.p. injection of LPS (1 mg/kg) or saline at day 4. Acute sickness behaviors were monitored at regular intervals after LPS (3, 6, and 24 h). At day 5 or 8, mice were euthanized to collect tissue for flow cytometry, gene expression levels, immunofluorescence staining, and serum analysis of cytokines
