Erbin plays a protective role in SAE. CLP-induced sepsis can activate microglia in the brain. Under the stimulation of LPS, the expression of Erbin is down-regulated, which accelerates the activation of the IRE1α/Xbp1s pathway, which induces the transfer of Ca2+ from ER to cytoplasm, and triggers the activation of downstream NLRP3 inflammasomes and the occurrence of pyroptosis, leading to the release of a large number of inflammatory cytokines, causing neuronal damage and synaptic structure damage in the hippocampus, finally resulting in cognitive dysfunction
