Thy1-induced release of ATP depends on PI3K/AKT activation in reactive astrocytes. ATP measurements in the extracellular medium of non-reactive (Control) or reactive (TNF, 10 ng/ml, 48 h) primary rat astrocytes (A), as well as astrocytes derived from hSOD1G93A (G93A) or hSOD1WT control mice (B). Cells were pre-treated with vehicle (0.03% DMSO), the AKT inhibitor (AKTi, 3 μM) or the PI3K inhibitor LY294002 (LY, 3 μM) for 30 min, and then stimulated with Thy-1-Fc or TRAIL-R2-Fc for 10 min. Values are mean ± s.e.m. from 3 independent experiments, *p<0.05 (ANOVA, Bonferroni post-test)
