The density and morphology of astrocytes in the brain of BTBR mice. Immunohistochemistry studies were carried out on whole brain sections from six BTBR mice and six age-matched control B6 mice using an anti-glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) antibody (dilution 1:1000). Immunostaining of GFAP (dark brown color) was present in all astrocytes. The density of astrocytes, number of astrocytic branch processes, cell body size and the total branch length were quantified using Image J analysis. Scale bar: 5 μm. Data are shown as mean ± standard error (SE).
