Study design. All mice were injected with either Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) or vehicle (VEH) and given six-weeks for a chronic infection to establish. At this point, mice received either a controlled cortical impact (CCI) or sham injury. From this point, mice were allocated to either acute endpoints of 2-h or 24-h, or a sub-acute endpoint of 1-week recovery. Alternatively, mice were allocated to a long-term (i.e., 18-week) recovery, during which all mice underwent neurobehavioral testing beginning at 12-weeks post-injury
