Female Wistar rats (N = 72) underwent controlled cortical impact (CCI) to the left motor cortex on day 0. Their brains were harvested (n = 9 per time point) for immunohistochemistry (IHC), ex vivo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), flow cytometry and RNA/protein analysis over a time course ranging from 1 day to 8 weeks postinjury.
