Effects of IFN-γ, LPS, and GW 501516 on MBP and NF-H mRNA expression. GW 501516 (black bars) decreased MBP (A) and NF-H (B) mRNA expression in control cultures and in cultures treated with the inflammatory agents. Cultures received GW 501516 (5 μM) 18 hours before the addition of the inflammatory agents, and again together with INF-γ (50 U/ml) and LPS (5 μg/ml). Cultures were harvested 48 hours after the inflammatory treatment. Values are expressed as fold change relative to the untreated control cultures (= 1), each value being the mean of 7 replicate cultures. Results were statistically evaluated for significance by the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by the Mann-Whitney test.
