Sevoflurane reduces T cell proliferation and induces T cell death. Splenic T cells as described in Figure 5 were assayed after 24 h for (A) cell proliferation using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay; and (B) cell death by measurement of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in the culture media. The data are mean ± SEM of n = 4 samples per group, and are relative to values measured for vehicle-treated cells with 0 sevoflurane. & P <0.05 versus vehicle, 0 sevoflurane (t test); *P <0.05 versus 0 sevoflurane (one way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey post hoc test).
