Levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the serum and cortex of mice following systemic lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation. Wild-type (WT) mice (white) or p38αΔLysM-Cre knockout (KO) mice (black) were injected intraperitoneally (IP) with 5 mg/kg LPS. The cytokine response in the serum was significantly reduced in the p38αΔLysM-Cre KO mice (A), while the response in the CNS was increased in the p38αΔLysM-Cre KO mice compared to the WT mice (B) (n =5 to 8 per group) (*P <0.05; **P < 0.01; ***P <0.001).
