PET and fused PET/CT images of the distribution of [11C]PBR28 accumulation in ALS mouse at the stage 3. Studies of inflammatory response using [11C]PBR28 (240 μCi i.v.) were conducted in the same mouse as above (Fig. 1) 2 days after the study of mGluR5 expression. High accumulation of [11C]PBR28 was seen in lungs, hindbrain, brain stem, and in different parts of spinal cord, indicating activated microglia and expression of translocator protein (TSPO). In the mice, we observed fivefold higher enhancement of inflammatory response in brain stem and cervical canal in progression of the disease than in modulation of mGluR5 expression in the same areas
