Telmisartan blocks oxidative changes to neurons in the spinal cords of NSV-infected mice. Immunohistochemical staining for 4-HNE, a lipid peroxidation product that accumulates in cell membranes following ROS exposure, is induced 4 days after NSV infection (b) compared to expression in uninfected control animals (a). Higher magnification views show prominent staining of neuronal cell membranes with less intense labeling of neuropil in ventral gray matter of infected animals (c).
