The protective effect of etifoxine is limited within 12 h after MCAO and reperfusion. C57BL/6 mice were given etifoxine (50 mg/kg) or vehicle by daily i.p. injection, starting from 6 or 12 h after MCAO and during reperfusion until the end of experiments.
