Proposed role of βCaMKII in regulation of COX-2/PGE2 neuroinflammatory signaling pathway and depression-like behaviors. Chronic stress upregulates βCaMKII expression and activates p38 MAPK, with subsequent activation of ATF2 and transcription of COX-2. This causes increased PGE2 synthesis and neuroinflammation, which eventually induced depressive behaviors. AAV-βCaMKII overexpressed βCaMKII, to prompt this signaling pathway. AAV-βRNAi induced knockdown of βCaMKII, to suppress this pathway. SB203580 treatment prevented p38 MAPK activation and thus attenuated the inflammation and depressive behaviors
